It’s Sunday!!

So, before I make any review about this place, let me say Happy Sunday for all of you. ^_^

May all of us have a great Sunday and better week in ahead.

It’s been a while that I make any review about a place to go.

So sorry all, since I have totally overload works from my boss so I couldn’t push myself to make any review about food/beverages or places like usual.

But now, I made it! Yay! Thanks God! ^_^

For today, I will make a review about Mr.Pancake restaurant @ Tunjungan Plaza 4 , Surabaya, Indonesia.

I like the decoration and interior of this place and so cozy for hangin’ out.

The seats also from a well-made couch that can make you stay at this place for a long time.

But somehow, if they have event nearby (since this shop just nearby for exhibition ), it’s totally annoyed me.

The sounds from exhibition are totally loud and make me not really comfortable to talk with my friend.

But beside it, this place is one of the places that I think that you can put in your list as your hangin’ out place.

The decoration has vintage idea with some cute chandeliers.

And if you like to take some pictures, I think you can take this place in one of your references.

And for the foods they offer you start from sweet pancakes, savory pancakes, sandwiches, pastas, steaks, until finger snacks.

And for the beverages, they offers vary of hot coffees, cold coffees, chocolate, iced tea, sundae, assorted tea, smoothies, milk shake, soft drink, juices and some specialties (such as punch etc.).

For the prices will start from IDR.20,000 – IDR.70,000.

And like they slogan it’s all about getting your day started with the right meal.

I like the interior of this place. As you see above, It’s a hole with sakura’s pattern. And a first time, I was thinking it’s a mirror at there. The ambience is so cozy and they have moderate space for many people. The services from the waiters and waitresses are fast. But for someone, who doesn’t like a place that make people see you in the restaurant, I think you won’t like this place.

As you see at this picture, they have glass window that allow any people who pass by this restaurant will able to see you inside its. Somehow, I enjoy this place since I can see many people outside. Kinda silly, huh? Hahahaha….

Well, for food, I believe I ever make a review before. But I will make another review about any food at this restaurant after this.

Ikan Bakar Pasar Genteng, Surabaya, Indonesia May 15, 2012

Well, I only have one word.

Unclean.

Yet somehow,it’s not really clean because of too many people who are trying to eat at here yet lack of responsiveness of waiters.

But for the food, you have to try it. Not because of it’s really totally delicious.

The food price is totally cheap.

Can you imagine, for 1 portion calamary, 1 portion sweet sour clam, 1 portion grilled grouper, 4 ice tea, and 4 portion of rice, you only have to pay about IDR. 60,000. It’s totally cheap!

I almost fainted when they told us to pay that much. How come it is so cheap. My first negative thinking was I will get stomach ache after ate it yet I’m fine until now. So no stomach ache and I already went there for twice and still no stomach ache.

So, I think, maybe, for backpacker, you can try this place. It’s cheap, mate!

The place will be in front of hotel pavilijoen  at Pasar Genteng. And it will be opened start from 5PM – 11 PM.

Ikan Tongkol Rica – Rica and Onigiri-chan (hikaruRKB collection)

I love fish especially seafood.

My nickname is cat since I love fish so much.

One of my favorite will be swordfish. In Indonesia we called it ikan tongkol.

A place that I can find it has a delicious swordfish cuisine will be this Pujasera Anda at Panjang Jiwo area nearby with Tenggilis area at south Surabaya. This place is for a student and family food court. The place is moderately big. Not really big one yet the place is kinda good. Suitable with the prices that they offer to us. It will started from IDR. 3,000 – 20,000. So, you can imagine, cheap place with a good food. You can put this place as one of your list especially you have a low-budget.

And you can see at here, they also offer you very cheap fresh juice and for the regular size its only cost IDR.4,000 – 5,000 and jumbo one will cost IDR. 8,000 – 10,000 .

Why Onigiri? Why not fruit or something like that?

First of all, I’m so in love with Asian food. I’m not a picky one yet my favorite will be Asian food since I love spices and herbs. And one of my favorite cuisine is Japanese cuisine. I love sushi. I can make it too yet I love onigiri since I have many great memories about it.

One of it is, my daddy tried make an onigiri for me when I was a little girl and it taste good! Although he didn’t put any nori as a wrapped yet I love it! Because at that time, it was a daddy daughter time.
My daddy lived in Japan gained his Master and PhD. Degree in chemistry. Somehow, his lifestyle in food also influenced by Japanese. And he gave it to me.

That’s why I choose Onigiri as my mascot. Tee hee!! Hehehehehe…

So, I introduce you, Miss Onigiri!
Or you can call her Onigiri-chan then. ^_^

XO Cuisine Experience Place Review April 17, 2012

Hi guys!!

It’s been a while that I absence to put anything at here.Due to my tight schedule, I almost have no time to do anything. I’m not an actress yet as ordinary person, I have so many tasks from my boss. And today, this Tuesday, finally, I have time to put anything at this WordPress account again! Yipee!! Hehehehehe…..

Today, I will make a review for XO Cuisine Express restaurant at Surabaya Town Square (Sutos ). I think this XO Cuisine Express is under the same company with XO Suki. Yet, I think I will be preferred to choose XO Suki than this XO Cuisine Express.

Why?

The atmosphere quite will be the same like Quali yet Quali theme is for middle market. XO Cuisine Express should be for middle up market. The price started from IDR. 50,000 which is they should have better environment for the restaurant. Although the taste of food quite good yet the price it seems not priceless for me.

Somehow, I’m a value-based perception person for buying anything. That is why I’m kinda not really like the price of the food at here. They have some promotion for BCA credit card holder where is you can pay 1 for 2 food items. But since I’m not a BCA credit card holder, I found it not very important for me. They should have more banking to get this kind of sales promotion. Not everyone use BCA just like me.

It makes me sad somehow. Hahahahahaha…

Actually, this restaurant have many varieties kind of foods. That is why I’m so sad. Coz I think it will be expensive though if you want to buy many foods at the same time. So, at that time, I only ordered 4 kind of foods. For the review of the food, I put it at another post since this post only for the place not for my food experience at this place.

And another thing that I don’t really like is its too crowded! When you pay something and it is expensive enough, I bet all of you want a cozy atmosphere.

Tahu Telur (Tahu Tek) Pak Jayen – Dharmahusada , Surabaya Review March 25, 2012

For tonite, I will make a review about Tahu Tek Pak Jayen at Dharmahusada street just nearby Kertajaya street in Surabaya.

Tahu telor or usually well-known as Tahu Tek in Surabaya, is one of Indonesian traditional food so you must try it. It made from Indonesian tofu that you fried with eggs. Sometimes you can mixed it with lontong (a steamed rice that wrapped with banana leaf) After that, they will put peanut sauce on it. It’s totally must item to try and I like it. Hohohohoho…
In Surabaya, one of popular tahu tek place is this Tahu Tek Pak Jayen.

Actually, tahu tek pak jayen is not quite cozy for its atmosphere place yet it’s worthy to go there since theie tahu tek taste deliciously.

In the morning, the place will open as a repairment car. But in evening, it will be opened as tahu tek pak jayen.

The food price will be IDR. 9,000 per portion. And for a woman, the portion is quite big.

Sushi Hana – Kertajaya Review March 24, 2012

This is the first time that I went to Sushi Hana restaurant yet the service somehow pissed my friend Karina and me.

First, for soft opening, it’s kinda weird if you don’t have any sales promotion for your restaurant yet sushi hana did it. I was thinking there will be a promotion such as buy 1 get 1 or discount or free voucher or beverages or maybe at least welcome drink. No. You can not find it at here as their soft launching. But I think it will be acceptable then.

Second, the waitress totally made our day. Usually, they will inform you that the payment still not accept credit card or debit card for premium restaurant. But at here, she forgot it and informed it when food already arrived. It’s kinda irritated us since we just back from gym and we only few cash with us. Totally made our day. Poor service ever. It’s kinda ashamed then. But Thank God my friend and us could accept it and there is BCA ATM just behind it. But still we need to walk kinda far and made us not comfortable for enjoying our food.

But overall, except the service, we can bear it. And somehow, both of us, agreed that the interior cozy enough. Like Japanese style yet we feel like at outdoor. For interior, somehow I like it.

And for foods, the taste also good. But I still prefer hachi-hachi better. Coz the price still cheaper yet taste almost the same. But the atmosphere better at here than hachi-hachi in Tunjungan Plaza.

For the price will started (foods) from IDR. 30,000 – 200,000. They also provided sake and some alchohol beverages. They also has bacon in their menu. My favorite one will be the ocha tea. You can refill your glass for it.

I was thinking that awesomely good for those gastronom or food critiques can make their review so detailed and precisely. Somehow, it is tempting me to be one of them. But I couldn’t.

Well, the last place I will make as a review is :

Soto Djempol

Jl. Solo KM. 10 , Kalasan, Jogjakarta

If you want to experience a great culture atmosphere with a good food, you can visit this place when you are still in Jogjakarta. It’s really nearby with Adi Sucipto Airport. The price also affordable started from IDR.3000 – 10.000.

Taste good, great quality, affordable price, clean, hygiene, and have an original atmosphere of Javanese culture.

Moreover, the owner is very friendly. Her name is Risa.

And for theSoto. What is soto actually? It’s a soup that is not delicate like cream soup yet almost like chicken soup with rice inside it (but sometimes you can ask them to put it separately). The soto at soto djempol tastes refreshing and good. And I also try their herb tea that can heal you from stiffness. I will put the picture respectively at here.

Wow! It’s already my fourth post for today at the same wordpress blog. Hmm.. It’s kinda rare for me to be so diligent to make any review in my blog. You can check it by my other wordpress account which are http://talkingaboutlive.wordpress.com or http://rookieinlive.wordpress.com . I think it called ‘Power of Foods’ then! Hahahahaha…

I love to do my food reviews. It likes that I’m living in the sweet soft dreamy land. Hahahahaha…

Well, just see it. Am I doing it so diligent like today or not in the future. Coz sometimes I’m too lazy to finish something about reviewing something. Moreover, my internet connection somehow can be so slow and lame. That’s make me cranky for sure. :p

Ouchhhh!! Please don’t get bored.. I know.. I know.. Sometimes I can have a very long introduction and not getting straight to the point. But please bear with it then. It’s only about my style. Hehehehehehe..

So, let’s start our review for this new place.

It named The Light Cup (TLC) Cafe. The place will be at The Square in Jl. Siwalankerto Surabaya. Just in front of Petra University. This cafe just opened about a week ago and still in its soft opening. I’m getting interested about this place, since from outside, the place looks so cozy and warm. So, a few days ago, on Saturday, Priski and I went to this place. My first impression about this place is good enough (remember when I saw it from outside) yet when I entered this cafe, it’s so small.It has two stories and in each story, they only has 2-3 tables for 2 people. And 2nd stories, they put

two tables and you can sit on the floor just like japanese people do. At here, we called it ‘lesehan’.

Then, the waiter is lack of information about the menu. When I asked about ‘Aglio Olio’ that I want to order, he has no clue about it. Maybe he just nervous then. And when I ask, is the price already included 10% tax, he said yes but actually in fact it’s not. Once again, it’s kinda irritated me, if  you go to the place that is not cheap but they are not serve you right.

The price is started from IDR.20.000 – 70.000 something.

But I like the menu’s design. Simple yet nice. They have two kind of menu. One for beverages menu and one for foods menu. For beverages menu was made by stainless steel yet the foods menu made by wood.

Then, we ordered our foods which are Aglio Olio, Spaghetti Bolognaise, Raspberry Smoothies and Virgin Mojito. For the promotion, since they still have a soft opening, will be two offer. The first one is, discount 20% for all item. But actually it means the discount will be 10 % since you are going to have 10% tax. Yeah.. marketing thingy. Not deceiving you yet there will ‘terms&conditions apply’ thingy. :p

The second promotion that we got is, buy 1 get 1 for any smoothies. So, overall, I think It will not cost them much money since beverages production costs will not as big as food production cost. Yet, I’m still thankful for the promotion. Hahahahahaha..

Okay.. let’s make a review for the Raspberry Smoothies. It doesn’t taste like raspberry. I was thinking at least it will be like Ribena (do you know this syrup that made from raspberry? taste good) but it’s not. It tasted like strawberry smoothies. Ja well..

Since I love strawberry, so it’s forgiven easily.

The second one, for Aglio Olio and Spaghetti Bolognaise.

Well.. Hm… I will not said it taste bad yet I think I can make my own Spaghetti Bolognaise better than theirs. But for Aglio Olio, it tasted good. Like it! It has creamy taste yet the spicy things from fresh chilli is great. Nice combination I think. But for the cleanliness and performance, they provided a good one.

And the disaster and awful one is the Virgin Mojito. It taste lime squash. (T__T)

Not mojito at all.. I can’t taste the mint right at here.. And they said they put apples but no apples taste at all. And many more.

That’s why I told you, it’s totally a mess one.

Well, I think that’s all my review about this cafe. So, I will put as average place. But let’s think positive then. Maybe its soft opening that’s why they still have a service and product like that. I think I will try again to go there and see is there any improvement or not. And I hope I will get my Mojito right at that time.
